Choosing the Perfect Wedding Venue

Beautiful wedding venueAs mother of the bride, one of the tasks that you can and should help out with is the selection of the wedding venue.  There are many types of venues that can be considered: restaurants, banquet halls, hotels, country clubs, and even parks and beaches.

Obviously the venue is one of the most important decisions involved with any wedding, and therefore the ‘2 heads are better than one’ philosophy is definitely helpful here.  As such, the purpose of this post is to discuss tips and methods to find the perfect venue for the big day.  And immediately below is a fantastic video that also helps to walk you through the process.

Basically, when it comes to choosing the right venue, the 3 most important considerations are availability, the number of guests and the budget.  Obviously, if a particular venue is booked up for the next 2 years then that one can be ruled out.  So first make sure it is available when you need it.  Then make sure it can comfortably hold all of your guests, and that you can afford the place!  Just keep in mind that you should not allow the venue to eat up your entire budget.

Another important consideration is the location.  Make sure that the location is not too far out of the way, and that it is relatively close to the church, hotel or wherever the ceremony is taking place.  And don’t forget about the surrounding area, as the best venues typically have gardens or other pretty areas for taking pictures.

Still another factor is the actual look and style of the venue – this is probably the biggest day of any woman’s life, so you want the aesthetics of the venue to be top notch.  A good way to visualize how the wedding might look at a particular place is to ask to see actual pictures of previous weddings that have taken place there.  This will give you a nice sense of whether or not it’s for you.

As you tour the various venues on your short list, make sure you ask whether the food is included or not, and whether or not any package deals are available.   Make sure the place is clean and the staff seems friendly or at least competent – you want to make sure the food will be delivered fast so that most of the evening can be dedicated to the entertainment.

In the final analysis, picking a wedding venue is not easy, so the more people that can help out with this decision, the better.  Just be patient and do your homework, and it’ll be just fine.  Good luck!
