Obviously, if a particular venue is booked up for the next 2 years then that one can be ruled out. So first make sure it is available when you need it. Then make sure it can comfortably hold all of your guests, and that you can afford the place! Just keep in mind that you should not allow the venue to eat up your entire budget.
Another important consideration is the location. Make sure that the location is not too far out of the way, and that it is relatively close to the church, hotel or wherever the ceremony is taking place. And don’t forget about the surrounding area, as the best venues typically have gardens or other pretty areas for taking pictures.
Still another factor is the actual look and style of the venue – this is probably the biggest day of any woman’s life, so you want the aesthetics of the venue to be top notch. A good way to visualize how the wedding might look at a particular place is to ask to see actual pictures of previous weddings that have taken place there. This will give you a nice sense of whether or not it’s for you.
As you tour the various venues on your short list, make sure you ask whether the food is included or not, and whether or not any package deals are available. Make sure the place is clean and the staff seems friendly or at least competent – you want to make sure the food will be delivered fast so that most of the evening can be dedicated to the entertainment.
