MOB Tells All

Wedding tips that will steer you rightYou can plan your wedding down to the tiniest detail and follow the advice of the professionals to a T, but you can still be blind-sided by events on the big day. As such, real life mother of the bride shares her experiences to help you foresee some of the unexpected, and prepare better through her own learnings.

When it comes to wedding planning, we always make assumptions without realizing it. For example, if the reception is to start at 6:30 PM, we assume that the wedding guests will know that dinner is included.

But stop assuming, says this MOB, and put it down in writing.  Tell your guests that the reception will start at so-and-so time, followed by dinner (or lunch, or the appropriate meal). This will save you from having guests making alternative dinner plans and seeing a lot of food that you paid for go to waste. Similarly, if you will only be serving drinks and wedding cake, let the guests know about that as well via the wedding invitation wording.

She also advises to keep the bride, groom and attendants well fed to keep their energy levels up. Timely breakfast, lunch and snacks will keep the bridal party from flagging, or worse, keep an attendant from fainting at the most inconvenient time!
