Modern Wedding Beauty Treatments: What You Need to Know

Wedding Beauty TreatmentsObviously every bride (not to mention the mother of the bride!) wants to look her absolute best on her wedding day.  But more and more women are taking this idea to the extreme.  Rather than preparing for months in advance (you know, like back in the olden days), many of today’s women are simply too busy to be bothered with this and instead are opting for quick fix beauty treatments like Botox injections and liposuction.  But like anything, these types of treatments have both pros and cons and are certainly not for everybody.  Keep reading for a quick overview.

Examples of Quick Fix Wedding Beauty Treatments

The most popular “quick fix” wedding beauty treatments these days include Botox, hair lasering, facial lasering, chemical peels, filler treatments, de-tanning and liposuction.  These treatments are popular because many brides-to-be are looking to enhance their eyebrows, complexion, jaw line, lips, cheekbones and overall figure.  Simply put, many women believe that wedding makeup looks better after getting these types of treatments done.  Each of these treatments can run several hundred dollars or more, so it’s important to understand what you’re getting when you opt for one of these so you do not experience buyer’s remorse after the fact.

Pros of Beauty Treatments

As I previously alluded to, like just about everything in life these treatments have both advantages and disadvantages.  On the plus side, these types of wedding beauty treatments are highly effective.  For example, you could starve yourself for a month in an effort to look great in your wedding dress, and still not look as good as you might after a quick 20 minute liposuction treatment.  Another benefit is the instant gratification that these treatments offer.  Everybody is extremely busy these days, and so there is definitely something to be said for trading money for time which is exactly what these treatments offer.

Cons of Beauty Treatments

There are a few downsides as well.  One obvious one is the cost.  Weddings are expensive and as such not all brides will be able to afford to pay for these types of beauty treatments.  Another downside is that some of the treatments can be somewhat unpredictable in their results.  For example, human error could cause your de-tanning treatment to go awry, which might result in you looking worse than you did previously.  Similarly, some treatments take time to show their effects.  For example, filler treatments generally take 1-2 days to show, whereas chemical peels can take longer.  So always ask lots of questions at the salon so you don’t get burned.

Bottom Line

The bottom line with wedding beauty treatments is that knowledge is power.  Do your research and ask your beautician lots of questions to make sure that the treatment you’re considering is appropriate for your needs.  Take the time necessary to understand how different treatments work on different skin types, and understand how long each treatment takes to show its effects so you can avoid the possibility of getting the procedure done too late.  Finally, look into the more traditional ways to beautify yourself in preparation for your wedding – like eating a healthy diet rich in fruits and veggies, getting plenty of sleep, and doing some good old fashioned exercise.  Good luck!
