4 Tricks to Looking Thinner for Your Wedding

It goes without saying that ALL brides want to look their absolute best on their wedding day.  That said, when you’re in the weeds with your wedding planning activities it can be tough to eat properly and keep to your workout regimen.

But the good news is that there are several shortcuts that you can employ to provide the illusion of a slimmer figure whilst in your wedding dress.

Obviously the most important factor is the fit of the dress.  Simply put, you want your dress to highlight your desirable features and draw attention away from your less-than-desirable attributes.

For example, a mermaid dress is great for highlighting your curves, a corseted ball dress is great for exasperating your bust while deemphasizing your waist and thighs, and an empire waist dress is a good way to camouflage your hips.  Importantly, make sure you do some research and get one or more expert opinions so you can determine your preferred dress style before you start the shopping process.

Another tip is to extend your height by wearing tall heels.  This works because the taller you look the thinner you’ll appear.  If high heels aren’t your thing and you are concerned about foot discomfort, stick with a wedge heel that is a maximum of 3 inches high.

Another idea is to maintain the proper posture and stance throughout the evening.  And trust me, this is easier than it sounds.  Just follow some posturing best practices like keeping your shoulders back (as opposed to slouching) and keeping your back straight.  A good rule of thumb is to make sure that your shoulders are perfectly aligned with your hips (visualize a vertical straight line running from one to the other).

You’ll also want to ensure that your undergarments are appropriate.  Make sure your bra fits properly to show the desired amount of cleavage without any bulges.  You’ll also want to make sure you purchase several properly-sized bras and try each one on with your dress to see which one looks the best.   Another type of undergarment worth considering is shape wear, which will help smooth out your shape especially if the bottom of your dress is fitted.

The bottom line is that what you wear and how you stand can have major consequences for the thinness of your appearance.  Just make sure you get the right dress, undergarments and shoes, and that your posture is adequate.  Follow these simple tips and you will definitely look slimmer no matter how much dieting or exercising you plan to do leading up to the big day.  Good luck!
