Finding Dress Bargains at the Sales

Depending on how much time you have available, waiting until the sales are on will mean you can get between 50% to 70% discount on full price for new garments. 

Of course, it will mean that you'll need to find more time to scour the stores for the right styles, sizes and colors, but if you've got the time but not the money, then this is a great solution.  (This can also be a great way of saving money on buying bridesmaids dresses too)

Bargain Hunting for your Outfit

If you're in more of a hurry and can't wait for the sales, then searching the odd out of season sale rack may not yield sufficient choice.

With so many women needing to recycle their fashion purchases, it's quite possible to find never worn dresses in thrift shops, charity shops and all at bargain basement prices.   Asking a friend to go with you can help when the whole process become a little tiring, but can also help as they will often discover some second hand dress or jacket that you would otherwise have overlooked or discounted.  

Don't be afraid to try and negotiate on price, if the clothing has been in the store for a few months, they'll be happy that you're wanting to buy it and may well be willing to move on price.

If you're happy to make use of the internet, then look out for some eBay designer bargains, especially look for the BNWT (brand new with tags) in the description.  Shopping for dresses on eBay, it's best to know what size you are in the brand.  For example, are you a size 12 in Jaeger, if so, then you can be pretty confident that a size 12 bought from eBay is going to fit well.
