Mother of the Bride Fashions for 2012

While the traditional style of outfit for the mother of the bride has changed very little

in the past decade, designers continue to translate some of the latest fashion trends for color and style into their 2012 collections.

For a peak into some of the collections, here's some idea of what a few of the well-known special occasion and evening wear designers are offering for the spring & summer season 2012:-

• John Charles - offers a sophisticated, elegant and timeless look
• Condici - some interesting and rather daring designs, with a real trip back to the past with designs offering Audrey Hepburn type fashion
• Ann Balon - for lovers of lace and embroidery, offering 3 piece outfits
• Paule Vasseur - this 2012 collection of French couture features shades of purple, lilac, pink and blue
• Frank Usher coterie collection offers two piece outfits and shift-style dresses teamed with bolero jackets
• Linea Raffaelli offer unusual dresses and outfits in patterning and with unusual, designed to stand out from the crowd, detailing. Shades & coloring are more unusual, with some traditional pinks, but also deep turquoise, apple green, & black & grey/white.

The Royal Wedding Mother of the Bride

Of course, every eye will be on the royal wedding, to see what Kate Middleton's mother, Carole, will be wearing. No doubt her choice of designer & outfit will influence the styles that will be seen in the collections for 2012.

One thing we can expect is to see stylish wedding hats, by designers such as Philip Treacy, who has created some fabulous designs for Sarah Jessica Parker.  In addition, it's expected that some of the wedding party will be changing their dress for the evening reception, hosted by Prince Charles.  

The latest celebrity wedding event was possibly the wedding of Chelsea Clinton who also chose to have two dresses, one for the wedding ceremony and a second for the party.  Her mother Hilary Clinton chose to wear a raspberry-red embroidered dress by Oscar de la Renta.
