I just love seasonal wedding themes. In the past I’ve written about summer and winter weddings, and now it’s time to delve into my favorite season of all: autumn. Fall weddings always feel cozy and warm, and they are not difficult to pull off.
As such, the purpose of today’s post is to provide some décor tips for your fall wedding. I’ve also included 2 short videos that show a few specific design components for an autumn wedding that I hope will give you some inspiration!
First and foremost, you’ll have to come up with a theme for the overall décor, the inspiration for which could come from any number of sources – for example something in nature or an autumn design that you saw while browsing wedding invitation samples. Whatever you choose, use those pieces as your motif and design for every element of the theme going forward.
As you create the elements of your fall wedding, remember to focus on nice natural color tones that you would find during autumn (red, orange, yellow, gold, brown, bronze, dark green, etc.). These tones should carry through everything, from the invitations to the bridal bouquet to the centerpieces to the wedding favors.
The specific components of the décor should be fairly rustic in order to fit in with the fall theme. For example, iron candelabras with autumn colored candles could be used for centerpieces. Or you could pull from nature and create centerpieces from strands of wheat, feathers, and autumn flowers tied together with an elegant orange ribbon.
The bottom line is that fall weddings can be amazingly beautiful if done right, so make sure the overall décor fits in with the theme. An autumn wedding ought to incorporate a rustic ambiance that pulls in elements from nature and features autumn color tones. And it is critical to make sure that ALL the elements and attributes of the wedding flow together – think of each element as one piece of a larger puzzle.
The best advice I can give you is simply to do your homework. Look in magazines, search online, talk to friends and relatives, or even discuss your theme with an actual designer. Good luck and have fun!
